There’s been a great response from businesses in the Taupo region — this year is on track for a huge number of entries. Don’t forget entries must be submitted by 31 May 2019, so if you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge, now’s the time to do it.

New and improved to the Taupo Business Awards this year is the judging process. Toi-Ohomai Institute of Technology, Faculty of Business Management have been announced as judging partners — each written section of entries will be assessed by a lecturer specialising in the relevant areas.

The Business Awards is also privileged to welcome a panel of three distinguished business leaders as judges, Greg Simmonds, COO Priority One; Nick Lowe, CEO Bay Venues; and Senga Allen, MD Everest Group, who will be conducting site visits of all finalists.

Catie Noble, chair of the Taupo Business Chamber says she’s excited about the high caliber of judges on board this year, “every judge has been specially selected for their passion, impartialness, and vast business knowledge.”

Also new for 2019 is the opportunity to book a free one-on-one 30-minute mentoring session with Toi-Ohomai business tutors. “I would highly recommend this for anyone entering, their business tutors are smart, approachable people and they’ll be able to give you some great advice and feedback on your entry,” says Catie.

There is a series of workshops designed to guide entrants through the entry process, enabling you to submit the best possible entry. The workshops are completely free to enter (as are the Awards!)

Winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Dinner Friday 16 August 2019. The Overall Business of the Year will be chosen by the Chief Judge and will be presented to the business that demonstrates excellence in all business areas.

Submissions close 31 May 2019 so start time to start planning! For more details on how to enter and to register for the workshops, go to
