What A Night!
Chamberlain Carpentry & Joinery took out the top award of Overall Business of the Year at the 2019 Great Lake Taupō Business Awards.
The biennial awards took place at Wairakei Resort on Friday and saw businesses in the Taupo region vying for business excellence awards in nine different categories.
Earlier in the evening Chamberlain Carpentry & Joinery had won the Zest Brokers Excellence in Business – Medium Business Award and were Highly Commended in the Enterprise Great Lake Taupō Excellence in Innovation category. To then be awarded the supreme award is recognition of their overall business excellence. The Taupō based company specialises in building and renovating mid to high end properties, passive and energy efficient homes, and creating custom made furniture and fittings. Judges commented that owner Ian Chamberlain is passionate about improving the building industry and plays a leadership role in this regard both locally and nationally.
Other big winners on the night included Anamata CAFE who won the Wairakei Resort Excellence In Leadership Award and were highly commended in the Legend Excellence In Business – Not For Profit Business; and Huka Falls River Cruise who scooped a win in the Quality Print Excellence In Environmental Sustainability as well as being Highly Commended for the More FM Excellence In Community Contribution award.
The entrants were judged by both business academics and industry experts from Hamilton and Tauranga and were scored on written entries, site visits and a mystery shop. A sell-out crowd of 350 businesspeople and supporters were on hand to celebrate the achievements and successes of all the finalists and the winners on the night.
