150 words or less

If you’ve started your Taupō Business Awards entry and hit “Question 1: Provide a 150-word Bio of your Business” – don’t panic! Yes, 150 words isn’t much… but with a bit of structure and spark, you can absolutely make it shine.

Here’s how to nail it:

1. Start with the essentials

Who are you, what do you do, and where are you based? This should be clear in the first sentence or two. Judges may not know your business – so make it easy to understand.

Example: At Wild Bloom Florist, we specialise in bespoke floral design for weddings, events, and corporate spaces across the Central Plateau.

2. Add your personality

What makes your business you? Inject some tone and personality. Are you quirky and creative? Warm and welcoming? Let it show.

We’re a team of bloom-obsessed creatives who live for petal-perfect moments and big-day wow factors.

3. Highlight your key offerings or special sauce

This isn’t the place for your full product list – pick 1–2 things you’re known for or proud of.

Our eco-friendly approach and locally grown blooms mean our arrangements are as sustainable as they are stunning.

4. Mention your impact or scale

If you’ve been featured somewhere cool, served 10,000 happy customers, or are a staple in the community – this is the spot.

Since 2019, we’ve helped more than 500 couples turn their wedding dreams into lush floral realities.

5. Finish with your ‘why’

A strong closing line that shares your purpose leaves a lasting impression.

At Wild Bloom, we believe every moment – big or small – deserves to be celebrated beautifully.

Pro tip: Write long, then edit tight.

Start with a paragraph or two, then cut ruthlessly. Every word should earn its place.
